Patagonia Rebelde - The Movie

The filming of the sixth movie directed by the argentine director, Hector Olivera, begun last January, in Puerto Deseado (Santa Cruz), with the name of "La Patagonia Rebelde". It is based on the cinematographic adaptation of a historical investigation of the executions made in the south of the country in 1920.

Hector Olivera chose for the beginning of his work, a sequence that recreates the fight between Facon Grande and the troop of the commander Zabala, which took place on the Tehuelches Station. These characters are performed by actors Federico Luppi and Hector Alterio.

A very complete documentation -over 500 photographies- obtained from the Nation's archive, and patiently detected by the author of the investigation, others received from a resident of Rio Turbio, professor George Gooderham, compound an essential part of Olivera`s work, to accede to the shocking episode occurred in Santa Cruz, at the beginning of the twentieth decade of this century. With same aiming, the work of Maria Julia Bertotto (wardrobe), Oscar Piruzanto (stage design) and Luis Repetto (executive producer), made this movie possible.

With a budget ot 300 million old pesos, "La Patagonia Rebelde" was filmed in Rio Gallegos, Rio Turbio, Pico Truncado, Lago Argentino, with some scenes shot at the studios Baires, close to the capital of Buenos Aires, where streets were recreated, as well as the Worker Federation, the Rural Society, and the Argentine Hotel -places of Santa Cruz - key places of the historic rebelliousness referred in the title of the movie.
